This is a beautiful, original Japanese watercolor of a rushing stream bordered by vibrant, autumnal colored flora, beneath the stately presence of Mt. Fuji. The watercolor is well executed and signed by the artist, M. Yoshida, of whom I can find no reference. There are many artists who have the name 'Yoshida', as well as some who sign their work 'Hiroshi', so care should be taken not to mistake their works for a work by the renowned Hiroshi Yoshida. This piece measures 19 1/2" x 13" and is in good condition. The work shows some toning, evidence of a previous framing with light matline discoloration noticeable along the left side and a few dark spots, particularly in the upper left corner. There is some waviness along the top edge but no creasing. The back shows a few spaced dark spots and a couple of pencil notations. Overall, a very pleasing watercolor ...... $550.00
