This hard to find game, in it's original paper covered wood box, with the rules in the lid, is an original, antique game made by McLoughlin Bros., New York - game maker and publisher of children's books - and dating to about 1885. This is "Lotto" and it is packaged in a 'steamer trunk' box. The box contains 24 cards (4 groups of 6 cards), all 90 numbered buttons/counters and, in the bottom of the box, actual old beans for covering the called numbers. The edges of the box are rubbed and worn, some of the nails-heads are exposed and there are a couple of pieces of tape on the exterior. The cards are all in very good condition - not dog-eared or torn. A very few of the numbered wooden disks have been inked to enhance the faded numbering, but most are in original, clear condition. It is very unusual to find an original of this game and quite rare to find one in as good of condition AND intact. The box measures 7" (17.8cm) x 4 1/8" (10.5cm) x 2 5/8" (6.5cm). Each thick paper card measures 5 13/16" (14.8cm) x 3 5/16" (8.4cm). Each numbered wooden disk measures 5/8" (1.6cm) diameter x 5/16"(0.8cm) thick. Quite a unique addition to your collection ...... $675.00 |
