Kosta Boda Crystal Vase with Snake
Click on image above for more views

This is a very unusual clear crystal Kosta Boda (Sweden) waisted vase with a snake curling around the top half and its ruby red-eyed head extending about 1" above the rim - sometimes referred to as a 'Cleopatra' vase. This piece is engraved - signed 'Ulrica H.V.' (Ulrika Hydman Vallien) on the bottom rim and, though she has used the snake motif in other works, this seems to be much more refined than many of her works. The full markings on the bottom are: Kosta Boda - Ulrica H.V. - 48752. The vase measures 8 1/8" high (to the rim), 4 1/2" in diameter at the top rim and the base is 4 3/4" in diameter. There is some light scratching on the bottom of the piece, but there are no chips, cracks, flakes or repairs. There is some light iridescense on the lower half of the inside but nothing that is visible when the vase in in use. I apologize for the poor photos - I find it quite difficult to adequately photograph clear crystal ...... $375.00
