Chinese Polychrome Enamel Basin
Click on image above for more views

This is a wonderful and rather uncommon 19th century Chinese basin with a polychrome enamel design. The design on the interior has birds, a monkey, a deer, flowers in blue and pink enamels and a lingzhi mushroom growing beneath a tree. The inner 'rim' has a heavy dark blue, pink, yellow and light blue enameled floral design and the upper wall has a grooved rim that was gilt, but the gilt has worn and turned brownish with age. The exterior has an overglaze red floral/leaf design and the bottom is slightly concave and unglazed.

The top rim measures 9 1/2" in diameter, the upper 'wall' is approximately 5/8" high, the inner, wide rim is approximately 5/8" wide and the interior bowl is approximate 7 1/2" at the upper diameter. The overall height of the piece is approximately 3 1/2". There is a very small flake on the upper rim (as can be seen in the photos) but no chips, cracks or restorations ...... $425.00
